Play Therapy
Welcome to Therapeutic Play SkillsA method of helping children with behavioural and emotional problems to help themselves
What is Play Therapy?
Young children often struggle with communicating their thoughts and feelings. Play may not seem like a way to communicate, but it’s very effective for children:
- A method of helping children with behavioural and emotional problems to help themselves
- Play is the child’s natural medium of self expression – it is essential for development
- Opportunity to play out their feelings and problems
- With a therapeutic objective
Therapeutic Objective
The time spent with the therapist is:
- Non-judgemental
- Non-directive
- Non-interpretative
The therapist provides a free and protected space for the child to express themselves physically and verbally, through play.
“I have a passion for working with children”
About me
I Studied BSc Human Life Sciences at Stellenbosch University and did my Psychology Honors thereafter. I decided to embark on a journey which took me to South Korea for 2 years as an ESL teacher. I hope to complete my Masters in Clinical Psychology. I recently completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills. I love children and have a passion for working with and shaping young minds. I am currently in practice in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
